Description

Classic yet contemporary, essential yet extremely flexible, the Jack wall system is offered in two versions: with vertical floor to ceiling uprights, or with rods to be fixed to the wall. The modularity and discrete technical solutions underlying the project make it possible to create compositions for every room and furnishing context. The system features numerous elements which can be combined to increase the system’s functionality. These include new, deeper shelves, storage elements such as drawers, and flap doors. From an aesthetic point of view, all the elements of the Jack wall system are available in two colours, to which Canaletto walnut and four oak finishes are added as an option for the shelves and storage units.

Back
Concept

«This bookcase system started as a stacking exercise of an assembly of rods of the same diameter. The selected design is a reduced configuration, providing the optimum structure and modularity to address a diverse range of interior spaces. The technical solutions are discreet, allowing for arrangements that feel specifically fitted to a particular room. Its discipline lies in the structural rules used to build from one form to the next, assembling to make a cohesive composition.»

Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades is a Cypriot designer, based in London. He trained as a civil engineer at London’s Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine before taking a masters degree in industrial design at the Royal College of Art. In 1994 he launched his studio to explore the contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through a combination of product, furniture and environmental design.

Positioned between fine art and design, his work aims to provoke dialogue, participation and interaction. He creates objects that are minimal and utilitarian, yet full of a vitality one might not expect. Anastassiades’ work is featured in permanent collections of many museums, among them the MoMa in New York, the Victoria and Albert museum and the MAK in Vienna. Recent solo exhibitions include “Time And Again” at the Geymüllerschlössel/MAK in Vienna, “To Be Perfectly Frank” at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm, an installation at the Norfolk House music room at the Victoria & Albert museum in London, a project to celebrate the Cyprus Presidency at the European Parliament in Brussels.

He has designed products for various leading manufacturers including B&B Italia and Flos. In 2007 he set up the Michael Anastassiades production company creating a collection of lighting, furniture, jewellery and tabletop objects. The studio’s philosophy is a continuous search for eclecticism, individuality and timeless qualities in design.
