The first B&B Italia podcast series on design culture and the art of staying at home

Corporate news

B&B Italia has launched its first podcast series “THE COUCH – Conversations on Design” curated by journalist David Plaisant.

We hear from some of the design world’s most renowned and influential voices such as Michael Anastassiades, Antonio Citterio, Mario Bellini, Ivy Ross, Philippe Starck, Lidewij Edelkoort and many others.
Staying at home has never been so important (or necessary) and never before has the domestic environment been experienced to this extent. THE COUCH started from this awareness and brings to design lovers, something of our story but much more beyond - the story of home design as told by a series of international guests.

This well-versed, diverse group of famed architects and designers, collectors and curators, design historians and journalists discuss the importance of the spaces we live in, wondering what essentially makes them what they are.
From the notion of comfort to the vital connection between craft and industrial design we look to the past present and future of the way we shape and inhabit our home environment.

Hear the exclusive design insights of our guests, only on THE COUCH podcast.

Furniture designer Michael Anastassiades speaks of his quest for the perfect home studio.  Michael reveals he only feels at home, where he can also work successfully. (episode 1)

Designers need to go against the rules says architect and furniture designer Antonio Citterio looking back to his Sity system (1986) which totally changed the form and function of the couch. (episode 2)

In episode 4, THE COUCH looks to the home of the future with Lidewij Edelkoort, Dutch trend forecaster, and Ivy Ross, of Google Hardware design.  They argue the home has already changed. Edelkoort foresees that all spaces will become multi-purpose. Ross says, “the need to design separate objects will disappear” and that “we need to be doing more with less” but at the same time “things need to be simpler”.

Rosa Park, editor and co-founder of Cereal magazine, says “I miss sitting at my office chair” she is keen to get off the couch, but she predicts that she is in the minority, concluding that the way we work may, for many of us, have changed for good.(episode 5)

Philippe Starck tells us about the refreshingly simple idea behind his new outdoor collection “Oh, it rains!”. (episode 7)

All that and plenty more besides on THE COUCH, available on the B&B Italia website, Apple Podcast, Spotify and Google Podcasts.
