During the NYCxDESIGN Award ceremony on May 20, the Eda-Mame sofa, designed by Piero Lissoni for B&B Italia, has been awarded in the category “Product – Residential Sofa (Sofa)”. NYCxDESIGN Award is the prestigious award presented by Interior Design and ICFF that every year celebrates outstanding achievement across major areas of design—from architecture to interiors, products to accessories, craft to technology.
For the 50th anniversary of the iconic UP Series, Madison Ave store hosted an immersive installation entirely dedicated to Up5_6 to celebrate the legendary Gaetano Pesce’s armchair paying homage to its past and showing its continuous look to the future with a display of the Up 50 special edition in a striking beige and petrol green striped UP50 Special Edition fabric. B&B Italia hosted a Cocktail Party with the iconic Up chair as its central theme celebrating its history, from 1969 until the present day, with several references to its origins, for example the waiting staff's attire inspired by the one of the famous ’69 advertising campaign.
To celebrate the U.S. launch of DOCK seating system by Piero Lissoni, B&B Italia hosted a talk between the Italian architect and designer and Marcus Fairs, Dezeen founder and Editor-in-Chief, at the B&B Italia New York store. This talk about the DOCK system, a moveable and nomadic sofa created especially for millennials, a new way of creating living spaces and furniture. The talk was livestreamed on Dezeen’s Facebook account (1Mln followers) and published as a story on its website.
Furthermore B&B Italia announced the Grand Opening of its flagship showroom in Dallas, Texas. Placed in the heart of Dallas’ Design District, the new 6.000 square foot showroom features a vast interior space as well as an outdoor courtyard for the international luxury brand to elegantly display a selection of vignettes from the B&B Italia, Maxalto and Outdoor Collections. “The Dallas art and design scene has inspired world-class architects to leave their marks on museums, parks and private homes,” says Jan Vingerhoets, B&B Italia’s Managing Director of the Americas. “We are excited for this opening and to share our brand heritage with the intention to inspire and engage the local design community.”
