The B&B Italia Contract Division enthusiastically welcomed the invitation of Elle Decor magazine to celebrate “hospitality” in the rooms of Milan’s Palazzo Morando for ‘Elle Decor Grand Hotel. The Open House’, the project-installation that, for the second year, has seen the involvement of the Milan-based studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel with a signature interpretation of the concept of “public hotel”: a veritable pop-up hotel stemming from the idea of creating a hotel that integrates different functions, and whose spaces are open not only to resident guests, but to the city itself.
“Measuring the ability to share the joys and experiences of day to day life," said Patricia Viel, “has become an accurate indicator of quality of life. If we look beyond the family or the age-old meaning of friendship, we can see that there are new forms of identity and belonging that are creating bonds among men and women. Attraction is often fleeting, even artificial, and yet widespread and interconnected. Social environments, therefore, must respond to these needs by being eclectic, surprising, multifarious, and never commonplace. Hotels, in particular, must offer everything, from food to music, from taste to art, from consumption to contemplation, and provide special, unforgettable experiences connected with a particular geographical location or city. (Patricia Viel)"
The B&B Italia Contract Division, which has been working for almost 40 years on “turnkey” furnishings and fittings for the international hospitality, retail, office and nautical sectors, takes an active part in the project and in all associated initiatives.
