B&B Italia has always known how to confirm and enhance its creative value and express its own innovative international lifestyle. This is extremely visible in our collection of tables. For a modern design tied to the coherence of a global project.
Modern living room tables
The choice of a designer to entrust with the creation of a product is a fundamental moment for the success of an industrial project. The R&D Centre plays a crucial role in this process because they are the trait d’union with the company, directing the competencies and creative expressions from the best international designers to create the unique, unmistakable “B&B Italia” personality.
The list of designers who have shared in the companies history includes well-known names such as Roberto Barbieri, Mario Bellini, Jeffrey Bernett, Antonio Citterio, J.M.Massaud, Jacob Wagner, Uwe Fischer, Naoto Fukasawa, Gaetano Pesce, Paolo Piva, Studio Kairos, Afra e Tobia Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass, Patricia Urquiola, Barber and Osgerby, James Irvine, and Marc Newson.
Each designer took up the challenge with B&B Italia and created a table in an interplay of reflections and reciprocal identification, and with the common goal of product innovation. It happened with the round table Tobi-Ishi, in which formal innovation is based on the effect of taking a simple idea to extreme consequences of perfection in the production process. This dining table has a circular top in marble or wood, finished in satin or glossy lacquer, set on a sculptural base made of two trapezoidal elements in high density polyurethane resin that are positioned like stones in a Zen garden. The Eileen rectangular tables and consoles have long become classics, due to their versatility (marble, wood, or the customer's choice of lacquered finish), the top's rounded edges and the strong design of the cross pattern on the base. The rounded corners make it almost similar in shape to an oval table.
Link, a clearly minimal table, stands apart for the sensory aspect of the material used to make it, Cristalplant®, an acrylic resin presented in a fluid form that sets inside a mould to offer all of the practical aspects of a plastic.
Seven, by Massaud, has an unusual and vary particular shape. One of a kind.
Next to the fixed versions of these tables, we have listened to a large part of the market and fashioned extendible tables. These pieces help expand the domestic landscape required by our new ways of living. Here, technology welcomes new challenges through the extension mechanism.
Therefore, each product is the object of many technical, formal and functional inventions. To give some space to small gestures of daily life that take the user pleasantly by surprise. The objective is to favour a more gratifying, higher quality lifestyle.
