Novedrate, 10 September 2018 - B&B Italia has acquired the historical Italian brand founded in 1947 by architects Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua.
The brand, which the three architects named Azucena after the gypsy in the play Trovatore, was created to collect together the furniture designed by them for their architectural projects; and furthermore to form a furniture collection in its own right.
Starting in October 2018, the Azucena brand will be commercialised with the re-editions of the first 20 products designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni - one of Italy’s most illustrious designers and architects in the post-war period. These pieces have already been presented by B&B Italia during the Salone del Mobile.
The B&B Italia Group has recently signed a license agreement for the exclusive production and distribution of a selection of his iconic original pieces, including some of the most emblematic products in the history of Italian design: the Catilina chair (also in the low, small and stool versions); the armchairs ABCD (with the sofa extension), Toro (with the sofa and ottoman versions), Pole Position, Nonaro (also with the sofa, chair, small table and stool), and Chinotto; the Cilindro ottoman; the tables and small tables Cavalletto, Fasce Cromate and Fascia Specchiata; and lastly, the lamps Poltrona, Base Ghisa, Monachella and Imbuto.
The Luigi Caccia Dominioni collection will be available in Italy and abroad, in the main B&B Italia monobrand stores and also in an exclusive series of selected stores.
For more information about the brand, products, and authorised dealers, the website www.azucena.it will be operative by October.
The Azucena brand collections will be listed alongside those under the brands B&B Italia, Maxalto and Arclinea, with the objective of strengthening the Group’s position even more as a world leader in the sector of high-end Italian design.
