After a year of work, the historic space in via Durini in Milan reopens with a totally innovative concept. On the occasion of the design week, the new interior and outdoor collections of B&B Italia are on display.

D Studio, the new design destination where Design Holding’s iconic brands such as B&B Italia, Maxalto, Azucena, Arclinea, Flos and Louis Poulsen can all interact under one roof, ha recently opened its doors in Milan, in via Durini 14, the 2,150 smq space on three levels that used to house B&B Italia’s historic store.

For the first time in Italy, D Studio is offering Italy an innovative setting that fuses retail and project planning to provide a space where professionals, clients and lovers of design can try out the very best of Italian and Scandinavian invention. This includes the peerless icons of B&B Italia, the sophistication of Maxalto, the timeless classics of Azucena, the avant-guard kitchens of Arclinea, along as the Flos and Louis Poulsen’s iconic Scandinavian designer lighting.

Last September 4th, on the occasion of the Design Week, the opening event was attended by over 400 selected guests, together with the new CEO of Design Holding Daniel Lalonde, in office since October 2021, and the CEOs of the brands B&B Italia (Gilberto Negrini), Arclinea (Gianni Fortuna), Flos (Roberta Silva) and Louis Poulsen (Søren Mygind Eskildsen).

Locatelli Partners' project for D Studio Milano transformed the store into a transparent architectural box, flooded with natural light, with ceilings up to 10 meters high, original elements recovered and large store windows that open to the outside and the city, to reveal spaces instead of concealing them.

Lissoni & Partners is responsible for the installation, setting the scene for a dialogue among design giants, latest creations and previews of future collections.

D Studio Milano represents for B&B Italia the ideal place for B&B Italia to present its indoor and outdoor collections to its customers, professionals and design lovers. Alongside iconic pieces such as Camaleonda by Mario Bellini, Up Series by Gaetano Pesce and most recent products like B&B Atoll by Antonio Citterio, B&B Italia has previewed 2021 design collection.

Maxalto has found its niche in the 400sqm entirely given over to the mezzanine, the ideal space to immerse yourself in the timeless style designed by Antonio Citterio and appreciate the genuine luxury of these sophisticated creations. Azucena is of course discreetly yet instantly recognisable throughout the showroom with its classic pieces designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. Arclinea dominates the contract area on the ground floor.

Fuorisalone 2021 was an exciting meeting moment after a long difficult period. We thank all those who took part in the Milano Design Week and who visited the new Milanese space. Instead, we invite all those who have not been able to participate to immerse themselves in the new world of D Studio in the coming months.
