Enveloping and sinuous, the Harbor armchair with armrests stands out for its sculptural design. It comes in two ergonomically designed versions: a relaxing armchair with a high backrest and headrest, and another with a low back fostering conversation. Both come with a swivel base and a visible metal zipper on the rear of the backrest, allowing the cover to be removed. The Harbor armchairs can be matched with an ottoman, onto which a tray can be rested for use as a small table. The series also includes a two-seater sofa.

Concept
“When I was working on Papillo family, I realized that working on a mass of polyurethane foam is the iconic strength of B&B Italia. Hence, the idea for this design is to sculpt a form out of this material as if I was making a sculpture out of Carrara marble blocks. It is true to me that B&B Italia is a brand that creates sculpture in polyurethane.
The name Harbor comes from a feeling of having a place to come back to and I also wanted this seat to have a feeling of wrapping around our body.”

Naoto Fukasawa
Naoto Fukasawa ist ein Designer, der für seine Designs bekannt ist, die der Einfachheit und erhabenen Schönheit sowie ungewöhnlichen Ideen verpflichtet sind. Er hat eine breite Palette von Produkten entworfen, von High-Tech über elektronische Geräte bis hin zu Architektur, aber auch hochwertigen Möbeln und Objekten und arbeitet mit führenden Marken in Europa, Amerika und Asien zusammen, darunter B&B Italia. Fukasawa ist einer der Direktoren von 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, Mitglied des Designbeirats von MUJI und künstlerischer Leiter von MARUNI. 2006 gründete er mit Jasper Morrison “Super Normal”. 2017 wurde er Mitglied der Jury des LOEWE-Handwerkspreises. Er ist Vizepräsident der Tama Art University und seit 2012 Direktor des Nihon Mingei-kan (Museum für japanisches Volkshandwerk). 2022 gründete er die Design Science Foundation. Fukasawa ist Gewinner zahlreicher Preise nationaler und internationaler Institutionen, darunter des Isamu-Noguchi-Preises 2018. Er hat einige Bücher veröffentlicht, zuletzt 2018 “Naoto Fukasawa EMBODIMENT” (Phaidon).
